The day has finally come. The PS5 remake of the beloved PS3 action game, Yakuza Kiwami 3, has finally arrived, giving PlayStation players a new rendition of the fan-favorite third entry of Kazuma Kiryu’s tale. Players can pick it up now digitally on the PlayStation Store or physically at their favorite video game retailer.
What is Yakuza Kiwami 3?
As mentioned, Yakuza Kiwami 3 is a remake of Yakuza 3, which was originally released for the PS3 in 2009. This entry is different than the remaster that was released for PS4 in Japan in 2018, and then worldwide in 2019. Players, once again, take on the role of Kazuma Kiryu as he and his adoptive daughter, Haruka Sawamura, leave Kamurocho to run the Morning Glory Orphanage in Okinawa. Although everything seems alright at first, things catch up with Kiryu, and he gets caught up in a conflict that puts the orphanage at risk.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 also includes Dark Ties, a new game that lets players play as Yakuza 3’s antagonist, Yoshitaka Mine. Here is a description of the new game:
“Experience the brand-new tale of Yoshitaka Mine from Yakuza 3 in an included separate game. Having once led a successful startup company, he plunged himself into the dark world of the yakuza by choice after losing everything. Left with an empty heart, the pursuit to find true bonds drives him forward once again in a dramatic journey colored by exhilarating boxing-based combat, and a variety of engaging side experiences.”
On the PS Store, players can pick up the Standard Edition of Yakuza Kiwami 3 for $59.99 for PS4 or PS5. Buying the game will give players access to both console versions. The Deluxe Edition, which is priced at $74.99, includes the games, as well as a variety of extra goodies. Here is everything included in the Deluxe Edition:

Upon its release, Yakuza Kiwami 3 has received some divisive reviews. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it garnered an average score of 75 based on 43 critic reviews. At our sister site ComingSoon, it was given a 9 out of 10.
