Wildlight Entertainment had to issue a statement confirming these layoffs. However, the studio says it intends to continue working on Highguard.
“Today we made an incredibly difficult decision to part ways with a number of our team members while keeping a core group of developers to continue innovating on and supporting the game.
We’re proud of the team, talent, and the product we’ve created together. We’re also grateful for players who gave the game a shot, and those who continue to be a part of our community.”

Highguard may be going the way of the dodo already. This free-to-play PvP shooter was released on January 26 and has since seen its player base dwindle. In fact, the title peaked at 3,822 concurrent users on Steam over the last 24 hours.
What’s more, we got some rather alarming news through LinkedIn. In a post published on the social network, Alex Graner, who worked as a level designer on Highguard, said he had been laid off “along with most of the team at Wildlight”. He also added that “there was a lot of unreleased content” designed for the game.
This statement suggests that these new features may have been canceled. Furthermore, if most of the team has been laid off, we can assume that Highguard‘s days are now numbered.
