How To Reroll Skills And Abilities In Mewgenics

Are you keeping your fingers crossed that you’d be able to reroll skills in Mewgenics? There are hundreds of abilities in the game. Unfortunately, only four are drafted whenever a character levels up, and you can only pick one at a time.

With a plethora of potential combinations, you might not acquire the build that you really want. Still, there are a few ways to circumvent this mechanic, but you still need the favor of the RNG gods. We’ve got several tips for you, but be forewarned that there are some spoilers ahead.

Note: Are you just as curious as a cat? You can find all of our other guides in our Mewgenics guides hub.

Reroll dice

While going through your adventure runs, you’re bound to come across some general purpose items like dice. You could obtain these as post-battle loot or event rewards. Alternatively, Tracy and other vendors might have them in their shops. A couple of these allow you to reroll skills in Mewgenics:

  • D6 – You can reroll your options when you level up.
  • Furry Dice – You have +1 LCK. You can reroll your options when you level up.

Similarly, there’s a quest reward from Dr. Beanies known as the Chaos Controller. It has the following effect: Abilities from all classes are offered as you level up. You can reroll level-up options thrice.

Take note that it will draft the skills of other classes, which can be a bit of a hassle. That brings us to one of the most chaotic classes in the game… the Jester.

Jester items and the Jester’s Soul

Jester set bonus

The Jester is the last class that you unlock in the game, and you have to clear Act 3 just to gain access to it. It’s the jack-of-all-trades, which means the skills of other classes appear as options, allowing you to mix-and-match accordingly. As you progress, though, you might discover a few items related to the Jester’s armor set.

The Jester set bonus has the following effect: Gain +3 rerolls when leveling up. Here are three gear pieces that you can obtain to activate the set bonus:

  • Jester Cap – Gain +1 CHA. You can reroll your options when you level up. Abilities from all classes are offered after rerolling.
  • Bozo – Gain +2 CHA but -1 INT. Your basic attack has a +15% chance to inflict Fear.
  • Metronome – Cast a random upgraded spell; once per battle.

Note: The items above can randomly drop even if you haven’t unlocked the Jester. However, other items that are part of the set can only be acquired upon clearing end-of-act zones while a Jester in your party.

Jester’s Soul passive

In relation to the above, classes have special passive skills known as Souls.

  • These are obtained upon clearing Act 2 – Moon while that particular class is in your party.
  • These passives grant the stat bonuses (and penalties) of that particular class, and they also cause abilities of that class to get drafted when a character levels up.
  • As with other skills, Souls also appear randomly upon class selection or while leveling up.

The Jester’s Soul has the following effects: Abilities from any class are offered when you level up. You can reroll your level up options twice.

The Ninny Stick

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the Ninny Stick since it’s also related to the Jester:

  • How to get: It’s unlocked as a reward upon clearing Act 3 – Jurassic while a Jester is in your party.
  • Effect: Reroll your other equipped items at the end of each battle. You can reroll your options when you level up.

Yes, the Ninny Stick does let you reroll skills in Mewgenics. However, it also has the unique distinction of rerolling the items that you’ve equipped in other slots. It’s a very risky gamble, especially if you’re wearing decent gear already.

Tinkerer passive and Stunning set: How to maximize your rerolls

If you want to maximize your ability rerolls in Mewgenics, you can look for additional boons from the Tinkerer class and the Stunning armor set.

  • Tinkerer: Armor Specialist (passive) – Your equipment passive effects are doubled.
  • Stunning armor set – Triple the effects of your equipped weapon and trinket.
    • Weapon: Bag O’ Glitter – Inflict Blind 2 on an adjacent unit. Has a 5% chance to break when used.
    • Face/eyes: Stunning Beard – Your head and neck item effects are doubled.
    • Head: Stunning Haircut – Your face and neck item effects are doubled.

The Stunning armor pieces affect specific slots only, whereas the Tinkerer Armor Specialist passive encompasses all gear pieces that you’re wearing. This applies to the number of rerolls granted by individual items, too, which means you could have 10 or more rerolls from each level up.

Note: Last but not least, we have some findings based on our playthrough. It seems that if you’re offered passive skills and you choose to reroll, you could potentially receive stat boosts instead. This might pose an issue, especially if you need passives more than bonus attributes.
