Cyberpunk 2077’s Best Easter Egg Just Got a Fun New Quirk

Cyberpunk 2077 is a game full of Easter Eggs, with CD Projekt Red going above-and-beyond with references to its own work and the work that inspired its sci-fi RPG.

One of my personal favourites is one that basically confirms the CD Projekt Red team prefers Yennefer over Triss as Geralt’s love interest in The Witcher.

For those who don’t know you can find an excerpt from The Last Wish in the game, proving the devs are people of culture.

That’s not the Easter Egg we’re talking about today though.

That would be the Blade Runner Easter Egg, Tears in Rain.

If you make your way over to the Advocate Hotel rooftop you’ll find a man slumped on the ground without a shirt. As you approach he’ll begin muttering some dying words and sci-fi fans will instantly recognise it as a reference to Roy Batty, the villain of the original Blade Runner film who delivers a similar monologue to Rick Deckard after their final confrontation.

Blade Runner will have obviously been a big inspiration to the team at CD Projekt Red when making Cyberpunk 2077 so obviously they’d want to pay homage to it.

Now on its own it’s a really cool Easter Egg, but one fan has made it even better with a mod that adds a little bit extra to the scene.

You can find it on NexusMods under the name Tears in Rain – Cyberpunk Secret Immersion Extended, and what it actually does is a bit of a mystery.

The description says it “adds a little more to discover in the Blade Runner Easter egg scene. If this description feels vague, that’s intentional – I don’t want to spoil your fun.”

Call me out for spoilers but what the mod actually does is make it more interactive. Normally the NPC that recites the lines just kneels there motionless but this mod will make them react to the player.

As you listen the NPC will turn their head to look at you, as if talking directly to you like Batty would to Deckard in the film.

It’s worth pointing out you can only trigger this in-game Easter Egg once per playthrough but you’ve already triggered it downloading this mod will reset it, so you can interact with it again as if it’s the first time.

I’m a big fan of this mod, and I’m an even bigger fan of the Easter Egg. I love the Blade Runner films and it’s nice to see them get the love from the Cyberpunk 2077 community.
