Something for the Weekend – 07/02/26

The Six Nations is back, having kicked off on Thursday with a thorough drubbing of Ireland by France. Has that set the narrative for this year’s competition? It was certainly an ominous performance, but we’ll have to see how England host Wales, and Italy host Scotland today to see if anyone feels like they can challenge Les Bleus.

In the News This Week

We had a new Nintendo Direct this week, just as predicted, with a focus on all the third party partners and their games coming to Switch 2 (and Switch) through this year. Here’s that and everything else from the week.

Games in Review & Featured Articles

Just a handful of scored game reviews this week, but it was another superb soulslike that was the cream of the crop. That and a remade JRPG classic.

We also sent Nic along to BAFTA Games in Concert for its opening night, and he had a lovely time seeing great gaming soundtracks performed live.

I started off the week talking about how World War Z x The Walking Dead blends slower zombies into a fast zombie co-op shooter, before turning my attentions to reporting from a Switch 2 preview event. This included putting my face into the recreated Virtual Boy accessory, savouring the party atmosphere of the new Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Meetup in Bellabel Park DLC, and the wild action of Mario Tennis Fever. I also got to dip a toe into Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata on Switch 2, to see how they compare to my previous time playing on PS5.

Ade spoke to the Lead Narrative Designer of Titan Quest 2 to explore its take on Greek mythology, while Miguel sat down to chat with Suda51 for his upcoming Romeo is a Dead Man

Rounding out the week, What We Played featured Overwatch (still 2), Nioh 3 and Speedball.
