After the controversial Wolfenstein: Youngblood released in July 2019, MachineGames put its FPS franchise on hold to turn its attention to Indiana Jones. However, the Swedish studio hopes to one day complete the trilogy.
In an interview with GamesIndustry, Jerk Gustafsson, the studio’s director, discussed the difficulty of developing a game in 2026. Projects are taking longer and longer, and Gustafsson believes he doesn’t have much time left before retirement.
His ambition is to complete the trilogy that began with Wolfenstein: The New Order in 2014. However, he did not specify whether this new installment will be MachineGames’ next game.
“We wanted to finish the trilogy. As for when we’ll get there, I won’t comment. It might be now, it might be later, but we’re not done yet. That’s all I can say.”
