Nintendo doesn’t plan to increase the price of the Switch 2 due to memory shortages

Observers and consumers are waiting to see whether the explosion in memory prices will have a significant impact on the price of consoles. For the time being, the major manufacturers have not raised their prices in response to this situation.

During an interview organized as part of the company’s financial report, Shuntaro Furukawa, Nintendo’s president, was asked about this issue. He said that he is currently in discussions with suppliers to ensure a stable supply of the Switch 2. As such, the recent surge in memory prices has had no impact on the profitability of consoles during the third quarter of the Japanese company’s fiscal year. Effects could be felt if the trend continues.

In any case, Furukawa confirmed that no decision has been made at this time regarding a hypothetical price increase for the Switch 2. Furthermore, the decision to implement such an increase does not depend on a single factor.

“Price changes will be determined comprehensively, taking into account not only profitability but also the adoption of the platform, sales trends and market conditions.”
