On February 26, Stardew Valley will celebrate its tenth anniversary. To mark the occasion, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone will unveil two new marriage candidats that will be added via the 1.7 update.
At the moment, the patch, which will also include a “frequently requested feature” from fans regarding children in the game, does not yet have a specific release date. However, Barone has detailed the elements that will be coming to Stardew Valley soon. For example, a farm map editor is being considered, as well as social features to allow players to discover the community’s creations.
The creator has specified that these things will probably not all be available with update 1.7. He has also revealed that his next game, called Haunted Chocolatier, is a kind of spiritual sequel to Stardew Valley. In fact, Eric Barone had started working on Stardew Valley 2 before stopping to focus on this new license.
“There was a time where I was starting to work on a Stardew Valley 2, but, I don’t know. For various reasons, I moved over to Haunted Chocolatier instead. Haunted Chocolatier you could say is like the Stardew Valley 2, but it’s a bit different of a game, so we’ll see.
I would love to because it would just be fun to work on a whole new set of characters, a whole new world, maybe capture some of that original energy that I had back in 2012, when I started working with Stardew Valley.”
