Fresh off the success of their 2010 animated film Tangled, screenwriter Dan Fogelman, legendary Disney composer Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin), and lyricist Glenn Slater pitched and produced their own fantasy show — something with a little more cheer than a dark fantasy.
