Skyrim New Free Quest Mod Fleshes Out Underrated Feature

In the real world, adoption is a long and arduous process, and rightfully so. But in the world of Skyrim, adopting a child off the street on the way back from slaughtering a dragon is a simple task, to say the least.

After all, who is better as a potential candidate than somebody head-to-toe in armour, covered in blood and hoarding countless wheels of cheese in their pockets?

In the U.K. alone, the adoption process can take up to eight months, but in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, it is as simple as walking into an orphanage and picking out one you like from a lineup.

However, thanks to this brand-new mod, the Skyrim adoption process just got a whole lot more realistic.

Paths of Family is a free-to-download mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which aims to overhaul the game’s adoption system.

Created by huhjun, Paths of Family adds small, heartfelt quests for each adoptable child, giving the player the chance to learn their stories, earn their trust, and unlock immersive familial dialogue and home activities ahead of adding them to your home.

“Did you adopt a kid faster than buying a cabbage? No more!” The mod description reads.

“You can no longer adopt a child instantly.

“Each adoptable child now has a small, story-driven quest that must be completed first. Earn their trust, learn their past, and understand who they are before starting a family.”

With quests available for Lucia, Sofie, Blaise, and Alesan, adoption now has a purpose.

Children Will Have Their Own Personalities

However, that is not all! Your adoptive child will no longer be another piece of furniture in your home.

Thanks to Paths of Family, children will now react when you talk to them, share funny observations, catch you up on town events when you are away for some time, tell you how they spent their allowance, and even talk about what they got up to around the house.

With the aim for houses to feel lived in, and not just be a “dead space”, the mod “adds what Skyrim has been missing for over a decade: Basic, human conversations with your adopted children. Learn their backgrounds, build bonds over time, and turn adoption into a meaningful part of your journey — not just a checkbox.”

Featuring over an hour of gameplay for the whole adoption process, five hundred lines of brand-new dialogue and fully voiced scenes, this mod is fully integrated into Skyrim’s world.

Better yet, Paths of Family is completely free to download for those who own The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on PC so if you want more immersion, gameplay, and realism, do not miss out on this new addition.
