Many players in the tech sector are now sounding the alarm about the memory shortage. Taiwanese brand ZOTAC, which manufactures computer hardware such as NVIDIA graphics cards, has expressed its concerns.
On its official South Korean online store, ZOTAC warned that the current situation is “serious enough to raise concerns about the very survival of graphics card manufacturers and distributors going forward”. The company predicts that certain GPU models will disappear from store shelves for an extended period of time and that it will be impossible to maintain a regular supply of “GPUs other than those manufactured by Samsung.”.
ZOTAC also highlights the significant price increases for several models, such as the RTX 5090 and RTX 5060. The former has seen a price increase of at least 65%, and the latter 17%. In an attempt to contain these increases, ZOTAC has planned various measures, such as discontinuing its Korean loyalty program, which offered discounts of around 2%.
