A collaboration between Ubisoft and Atari has leaked via an Australian classification site, hinged around Rayman’s 30th anniversary.

While the character’s prominence has dimmed under the popularity of Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, Rayman was once the de facto mascot for Ubisoft.

The character made his debut in a 2D side-scrolling platformer alongside the original PlayStation on September 7, 1995, and transitioned to 3D with sequels Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.

The most recent (and best) entries, Rayman Origins and 2013’s Rayman Legends, brought him back into the 2D realm, but there hasn’t been a new mainline entry since. In fact, his last appearance was as DLC in 2022’s Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope.

Last year, Ubisoft announced it was working on the ‘future of Rayman’ in a video to commemorate the 30th anniversary, but stopped short of doing any kind of commemorative re-release.

However, it seems the company does have some kind of anniversary project in the works, albeit under the development of external collaborator Atari.

On January 22, 2026, a listing for ‘Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition’ popped up on the Australian classification site. The title is listed as being for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, with Atari serving as the developer and publisher.

The involvement of Atari suggests it is either a compilation from Digital Eclipse, in the vein of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, or a standalone remaster of the original. If it is called Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition, we’d assume it was probably the latter.

There have been rumbles of various other Rayman projects. According to Insider Gaming, a remake of Rayman Legends, codenamed Steamboat, is in development at Ubisoft, which is apparently separate to this anniversary title.

According to the outlet’s owner, Tom Henderson, the listed game tied to Rayman’s anniversary, codenamed Iceman, will launch ‘very, very soon’ – but he doesn’t mention a specific date.

In May last year, Mario + Rabbids developer Ubisoft Milan were staffing up for a ‘AAA title for the Rayman brand’, alongside Ubisoft Montpellier. This came after Ubisoft announced it was in the ‘exploration phase on the Rayman brand’ in October 2024.

A remake (or remaster) of Rayman Legends, while fantastic, feels rather pointless considering it is already widely available on every platform under the sun. Being 2D, it’s also not clear what it would actually improve.

As for any new Rayman title, we’re just hoping it hasn’t been affected by the recent restructuring at Ubisoft, which has led to the cancellation and delay of several games.

This is exciting news for Rayman fans! A 30th anniversary game sounds like a fantastic way to celebrate such a beloved character. It’ll be interesting to see what Ubisoft and Atari come up with together.
