The PS6 could get a longer delay than expected

The current economic climate is clearly not favorable for PC manufacturers or even those in the console sector. RAM prices are skyrocketing due to an unprecedented shortage. So much so that we already have talks of future consoles being delayed.

In a new report, David Gibson, senior research analyst at MST Financial, shared his estimates in this area. For the third quarter of the current fiscal year, he says he expects Sony to beat “market expectations, driven by sales of both in-house and third-party games”. These hypothetical good results could have consequences.

According to him, this will allow the Japanese company to extend the PS5’s life cycle. He also predicts “the PlayStation 5’s lifecycle to be extended, with the PlayStation 6 likely to be “delayed longer than many expected”.

Many observers expected Sony’s next console to debut in 2027/2028. Now, a delay until 2029/2030 does not seem entirely unlikely.

Of course, it is important to remember that this is an estimate that could be partially or entirely wrong.
