Despite its many qualities, The Outer Worlds 2 seems to be struggling commercially. Obsidian’s title got released last October, and has clearly not lived up to its predecessor.
According to analyst Daniel Camilo, writing for GamesIndustry, The Outer Worlds 2 has sold less than a million copies in three months. The first game sold 2 million units during the same period.
Of course, this figure must be put into perspective, as many players were able to try it out via Game Pass. It is therefore difficult to know whether The Outer Worlds 2 is really a failure for Microsoft or not. However, better results could have been expected, as the game is also available for purchase on PS5.
Finally, it should be noted that this figure is not official.
