Available since February 2022, the VR mod for Cyberpunk 2077 allowed players to explore Night City in almost total immersion. This experience by modder Luke Ross is unfortunately no longer available.
The creator stated that he received a DMCA request from CD Projekt RED. We do not yet know why the Polish studio made this decision almost four years after the mod’s release. However, it is important to note that this creation was paid, as it had to be downloaded via Luke Ross’s Patreon page.
CD Projekt RED may not have accepted that a third party could profit from its license. If the mod had been free, it might have avoided being abruptly removed. In any case, the creator took the chance to denounced that “same iron-clad corpo logic: every little action that a company takes is in the name of money, but everything that modders do must be absolutely for free”.
