In an interview with The Game Business, Split Fiction director Josef Fares spoke about the rise of artificial intelligence in video games. He doesn’t think AI will completely replace humans in game creation, even though no one can predict the future with certainty.
“We have been working with AI for a long time in game development.”
He believes that technology can be useful as a tool, but that a developer’s creative vision remains essential to designing a game, and points out that despite the interest surrounding generative AI, it has not yet progressed to the point of surpassing humans in this field. In his view, there will always be a need for someone with a vision or idea for the game, and therefore he does not see AI taking over in this regard.
