Resident Evil showcase announced for this week – here’s how to watch it

What secrets are there beyond the inclusion of Leon? (Capcom)

Leon S. Kennedy has already been confirmed for Resident Evil Requiem, but Capcom still has more to show ahead of next month’s launch.

We’re just a month away from the release of Resident Evil Requiem, on February 27, and at this point Capcom’s already shown all it needs to, in order to get fans excited for it.

Not only have hands-on previews (including our own) been very positive, with the game promising to be legitimately scary, but fan favourite character Leon has recently been confirmed to be playable.

Apparently, Capcom still has more to show though, as they’ve just announced a Resident Evil showcase for later this week.

When is the Resident Evil showcase?

The showcase will take place this Thursday, January 15 at 10pm GMT and will be available to watch on the official Resident Evil YouTube channel.

It’s not especially long, though, clocking in at only 12 minutes. So, don’t go in expecting a mammoth amount of new info.

What will be shown in the Resident Evil showcase?

The biggest rumour circling Resident Evil Requiem was that Leon would be in it and that’s now official, so it’s not clear what else Capcom will want to announce before launch.

Perhaps they’ll simply offer a more in-depth look at Leon’s gameplay, which will involve a lot more combat compared to new protagonist Grace’s stealthier approach. Some rumours have also suggested that Ada Wong might also be playable but this has recently been debunked by regular rumourmonger DuskGolem.

It was previously rumoured that Requiem would feature an open world; the first of its kind for the Resident Evil series. Capcom has admitted that it did experiment with making Requiem an online multiplayer game, set in an open world, but those plans (thankfully) changed and Requiem is now a traditional single-player game.

Previous trailers have implied some sort of recreation of Raccoon City though, with numerous shots of the ruined police station, but exactly how expansive that is hasn’t been made clear yet.

An existing trailer for how the game will run on PC with Nvidia’s GeForce graphics card shows Grace walking down a city street. Although considering it’s not in ruins it can’t be Raccoon City, so there may be multiple exterior environments.

Will any other games be shown during the Resident Evil showcase?

So far, Capcom has only promised an update on Resident Evil Requiem, but some fans are suspicious that it won’t be the only game featured.

Aside from the fact that it’s labelled as a Resident Evil showcase, not a Resident Evil Requiem one, Capcom’s website has this disclaimer: ‘Some of the games included in the show aren’t suitable for children.’

‘Games’ in the plural implies more than one will be shown and there have long been rumours of Capcom remaking Code: Veronica and Resident Evil 0, with the former expected to launch in 2027 and the latter in 2028.

However, we’d still recommend erring on the side of caution. Capcom also has plans to release Nintendo Switch 2 ports of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village on the same day as Requiem, so it’s much more likely to be them or some sort of new mobile spin-off.

Plus, it’d be weird timing to even tease another remake just a month before the next mainline game comes out.
