A new ARC Raiders revelation has made the game feel a lot easier with aim assist turned on on PC, that it almost feels like a cheat.
Aim assist is a rather useful feature that helps some players to aim in competitive games, particularly in games that feature cross-play between some users who have controllers and others with a keyboard and mouse setup.
Normally, there’s no shame for using aim assist in our eyes. But in this one case, I’m not so sure.
One ARC Raiders player has demonstrated just how overpowered the game’s implementation of aim assist is by showing how it’s tied to specific frames-per-second values.
ARC Raiders Aim Assist Is Stronger On Higher Framerates
Player Razukee demonstrates that when his frame rate value is set to “unlimited” (running at around 144fps in the video below), the magnet of the aim is a lot stronger than when playing at a low framerate like 30fps. Check out that difference in his video just below (skip to 0:40 if you want to see it in action).
“I have set my vertical sensitivity to be insanely low and I hold the stick straight up about 50 to 75% of the way,” Razukee shares in the video description. “Anytime you go past a certain threshold, the aim assist turns off instantly. Anytime you see my aim rip away from the drone, this is me pushing the stick a little too far up and then I release the stick slightly and the aim immediately snaps back on target.
“As you can notice in the video, this effect is WAY more smooth and the ‘magnet’ of the aim assist is much much stronger when playing at higher FPS. I’m sure if you play with a config to make the game look atrocious, this effect would be even crazier.”

Razukee adds that they are “not moving the right stick either left or right at any point when tracking is active,” further demonstrating just how strong the aim assist is when playing at high frame rates.
They then write that “If you are attempting even in the slightest to match the drone’s movements, the aim assist REALLY turns your aim to aimbot levels with hardly any work from yourself.”
It seems that this is a rather unfair advantage for those playing on higher refresh rates, where players will have an easier time aiming if they’re using a controller compared to lower frame rates.
Other games like Battlefield 6 and Escape From Tarkov have this issue, where various game mechanics are tied to the frame rate to the point where players with a higher fps value have an advantage over those with lower fps.
So, if you find yourself losing more often in gunfights, it might be a good idea to check your frame rate. You can use that as the excuse in your next online session.
