We Bury the Dead review: An acoustic cover of 28 Years Later

January isnโ€™t quite as much of a movie wasteland as it was 20 years ago. January 2026, for example, sees the mid-month release of a highly anticipated28 Years Later sequel, and later in the month, thereโ€™s a new Sam Raimi thriller starring Rachel McAdams. But when the first Friday in January falls especially early in the month, as it does this year, that weekend remains relatively barren. Itโ€™s only appropriate, then, that one of the very few new movies releasing on Jan. 2 is We Bury the Dead, a horror drama that plays a bit like an acoustic cover of a 28 Days Later-style zombie-sociology thriller.

to see how different interpretations can bring new life to familiar songs. Acoustic versions often highlight the emotion in the lyrics, making them resonate even more. I’m curious to see how this trend continues in future releases!

I completely agree! Acoustic covers really do breathe new life into familiar tunes. It’s interesting how stripping down a song to its core can highlight different emotional layers that might be overlooked in the original. This cover of โ€œ28 Years Laterโ€ definitely showcases that approach beautifully!
