With some of our favourite open-world RPGs featuring heaps of content with hours worth of gameplay, it is hard to believe that many of them have been subject to a lot of cuts throughout development.
As such, cut content is often the subject of modder’s interest with the aim to reintroduce cut dialogue, cutscenes, maps, items, and more.
That has been the aim for MaxStrengthWizard, a Baldur’s Gate 3 modder over on Nexus Mods.
Thanks to the Ultimate Cut Content Restoration Mod, Baldur’s Gate 3 players can now access a “massive amount” of cut content including “almost every single piece of cut equipment, cut feats, cut class abilities, unused icons, and restoration of unfinished items.”
“The primary thing that bothered me about the other restoration mods was that they didn’t include all of the possible items to include, always missing at least a couple of items,” the modder explains.
“The other issue is the implementation of the items. Some just dumped them all in the tutorial chest, some gave them all to a single or few merchants, and only a few took the extra step to have them dispersed throughout the game.

So what I set out to do was rectify both of those issues and then, in the name of scope creep, do more. And more. And then plan for some more.”
As a result, the Ultimate Cut Content Restoration Mod features multiple groups of items, including non-magical items, non-magical unique items, weapons, armours, shields, helmets, gloves, boots, cloaks, amulets, rings, consumables, summons items, cut abilities, and even unused icons.
Put simply, everything that was cut from Baldur’s Gate 3, for whatever reason, is now accessible through this mod which sounds very much like inspiration for another new playthrough to me.
The modder explains that all of the above items have been added to the world through a treasure table.
“These are the tables that define what a merchant sells, what an NPC drops on death, what a chest has, etc,” they write.
With the goal to add even more cut content to this mod, those who are interested in experiencing Baldur’s Gate 3 in its full glory will want to keep an eye on any future updates.
