An intriguing PS5 action game that was announced in 2021 is in its final stages of development, with a release date coming soon. Spine – This is Gun Fu was originally revealed as a team-based action game, but completely changed direction in 2023.
PS5 action game Spine is a cinematic, story-focused single-player game
Spine was supposed to get a release date in 2025, but developer Nekki said that it wasn’t ready to announce anything this year. However, with Spine entering final stages of development, what the studio can confirm “for sure is that you’ll hear it [release date] in the near future.”
Spine is Nekki’s first console and PC game. The developer previously made mobile games only.
Spine went from being a team-based action game to a single-player, cinematic, story-rich action game.
“Ever wondered what it’s like to be the hero of an action movie? To find yourself in the epicenter of the action, kicking the gun out of your opponent’s hand, or parrying a bullet with your trusty katana?” a description reads. “Step inside a real Gun Fu movie with rebellious street artist Redline and her sentient combat implant Spine as they defy the autocratic AI regime in search of Redline’s captured brother.”
