Back when it released in October 2024, Metaphor: ReFantazio was a critical success. The latest RPG from the Persona devs was praised by critics and sold over two million copies worldwide.
In an interview with Game Informer, Katsura Hashino, the game’s director, said that while a sequel may one day be released, he prefers not to rush into it for now.
“When we set out to create this game, we had the ambition to make it one of our franchises at Atlus, a real pillar…
That said, even though we’ve had some success, we don’t want to rush into releasing a sequel. We really want to think it through and make sure that if we continue this series, we create something that builds on the values we’ve instilled in this game and lives up to the expectations of the fans.”
