Steam ‘Mostly Positive’ Game Made Totally Free, Limited Time Only

Are you a fan of cavemen? Or maybe just retro platformers? Well, if you love one or both of the aforementioned things, you will love this free Steam game.

Available to download and keep for free until 30 December at 6pm GMT, Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga is definitely the game which will see you play out the old year in style.

Developed by GrabTheGames Studio, Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga is a retro-inspired platformer adventure game set during prehistoric times.

You will take on the role of a caveman who must overcome obstacles in order to clear each level and progress.

However, with each level getting that little bit harder, it is going to take all of your platforming knowledge to overcome it as you face enemies, obstacles, traps, and more.

Not only that, but it just so happens to feature one of the best game descriptions of all time.

“Who is Unga Boonga? This is Unga. Unga collects things. Bring home to Boongas. Unga no like pointy things, or bitey things, or burney things but Boonga likes wheels and Unga smash eggs before Bitey smash Unga. These mountains of Unga Boonga.”

First launching back in 2016, Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga has managed to bag itself a “Mostly Positive” Rating on Steam with over 400 reviews under its belt.

“It has dinosaurs,” one positive review read. “Automatic positive review. Dinosaurs make everything better.‍”

Another added, “This game is the reason I have a 4K monitor, absolute unadulterated peak.”

However, another user offered somewhat of a more detailed review.

An Unexpected Success

“Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga is an unexpectedly refined expression of primitive excess,” it reads.

“Beneath its deliberately crude exterior lies a game that understands pacing, atmosphere, and mechanical restraint better than its title suggests.”

With another user claiming that it returned his lost dad from getting milk, it is safe to say that Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga is capable of anything.

So if you are on the lookout for a retro-inspired 2.5D platformer where you play as a caveman who must provide for his family, all whilst avoiding traps, obstacles, and enemies, whilst also potentially bringing back your father from the shops he disappeared to all those years ago, Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga may be for you.

Luckily, Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga is free to download and keep on Steam up until 30 December at 6pm GMT where it will then head back to full price.

If you are not convinced now, you may never be.
