Guardians of the Galaxy Get Fortnite Return With New Groot Twist

Fortnite fans rejoice, because a fan-favourite Guardians of the Galaxy character returns in the popular free-to-play shooter.

Without question, Epic Games’ Fortnite is one of the most popular video games of all time and is the standard for how a free-to-play battle royale game should be delivered.

Right now, Fortnite is in its seventh chapter, and just before its launch on 30 November 2025, GAMINGbible’s Sam went hands-on with the latest content.

“All in all, Fortnite Chapter 7 feels fresh and fun, and is a promising start to what could be a very lucrative season depending on which IPs are in line to get a skin/collaboration next,” Sam wrote.

Over the years, so many developers and publishers have chased that Fortnite clout, hoping to be the next big release in the oversaturated battle royale genre. However, apart from a few exceptions, most fail miserably, never to be seen again.

As reported by Business of Apps in November 2025, throughout the entirety of 2023, Fortnite generated a whopping revenue of $3.5 billion, which is said to be 80% of Epic Games’ total revenue.

Developer and publisher, Epic Games, makes its money by selling a plethora of cosmetic items, many of which are inspired by outsourced pop culture franchises and celebrities.

A lot of these cosmetics are only available for a limited time, which triggers the fear of missing out for some gamers. That being said, you can play Fortnite without spending a penny, and you’d still have a blast, because the cosmetic items give you no gameplay advantage.

Big money is also made in Fortnite courtesy of its in-game currency, V-Bucks. Speaking of which, here’s how you can get 1,000 V-Bucks for next to nothing.

Going back on track, as brought to our attention by the X account, BackersGamesF, one such cosmetic is one for fans of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, in particular, everyone’s favourite Flora Colossus, none other than Groot.

“New baby Groot sidekick + GOTG pack returning — this weekend, tweeted BackersGamesF. Sidekicks are essentially cosmetic companions that follow you in the game. They can’t attack foes, but they still look great at your side,” the account wrote.

“Damn him and SpongeBob,” replied tommyj935.

“Baby Groot pet before Nebula,” said a dejected IDontRantEnough. Hopefully, Nebula will make a cameo in Fortnite one day.

“It would be cool if they gave owners of the GOTG Pack a free Groot skin in Fortnite,” suggested DanielH74291567.

Fortnite is available to play for free on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and mobile devices. Its DLC is cross-platform, so if it’s bought on Xbox, it’s accessible on PlayStation, for example.
