Resident Evil Requiem Gamers ‘Muting All Posts’, Leon Spoiler Leaks

Resident Evil fans may have to mute all posts if they have any chance of avoiding major Requiem spoilers regarding my boy, Leon S. Kennedy.

To say that I’m hyped for the release of Resident Evil Requiem would be an understatement. It doesn’t matter which game in the Capcom survival horror series it is; it will always be my most anticipated game of that year, and 2026 will be no exception.

As I said in a previous article, I’m literally counting down the days until the next Resident Evil game arrives. In case you’re wondering at the time of writing this article before it’s published, that would be just under 70 days.

As a result of my obsession with everything Resident Evil related, even if I wanted to at this point, given what my job entails and my social media algorithm mainly consisting of Resident Evil and pro wrestling, avoiding Requiem spoilers is practically impossible at this point.

Potential Resident Evil Requiem Spoilers Below

Following the official reveal of one of 2025’s worst-kept secrets, Leon. S. Kennedy was finally revealed as the second playable character in Resident Evil Requiem alongside Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak.

I am about to venture into the potential spoilers here. But if, like me, Resident Evil Requiem dominates your social media feed, then you probably know this fan theory about Leon.

There’s a section in the Resident Evil Requiem trailer featuring Leon, revealed at The Game Awards 2025, that seems to show an infection of sorts on his neck. At first glance, this is very easy to miss, especially with it being covered up by his coat collar and shade. Yet, when zoomed in, there does appear to be something dark on Leon’s neck. Similar images appeared in officially released character art.

Images have been making the rounds from the Tokyo Game Show 2025 (thanks Kathyanhy) of the Resident Evil Requiem stand. At this stand, there were large walls with projected screens showing various pieces of footage.

The footage on the walls alternates between newspaper clippings that we’ve seen in promotional material as well as marketing art. However, there’s one image from that stand that appears to have a sketch of an unnamed male body with certain parts circled.

Should We Be worried About Leon?

At the time, this was before Leon was officially revealed, so there’s a good chance that no one thought much of it. But, following that recent trailer at The Game Awards, fans are putting two and two together, and the logic makes some sense.

“Leon is definitely infected, but will he survive, or is the new virus not removable like Las Plagas?” exclaimed Redditor grimreefermadness.

The Redditor does raise a good point; unless Leon hasn’t washed for days, it’s quite clear he’s infected by something. At least we know it’s very unlikely to be Las Plagas that infected him in Resident Evil 4.

Las Plagas was removed by a surgical machine in Luis Sera’s lab. Of course, in the unlikely event, there could be a story arc in Resident Evil Requiem that might explain why it was never fully removed; only time will tell. Either way, it does look like Leon does have an infection on his neck in The Game Awards trailer, which matches the circulated body parts from Tokyo Game Show. As for the other body parts, we can’t know for sure right now.

The other parts circled are around the elbow/hip area, which are covered by clothing in the recent trailer. Then there’s the circled hand, which is covered by a glove in the trailer. So, I guess, we’ll just have to wait and see until the game is released.

Way before Leon was revealed, many speculated that Resident Evil Requiem could be his swansong (at least with new stories in the series), and with the word “Requiem” translating to “rest” in Latin, it might be time to prepare our goodbye.

If you don’t want to know any other potential spoilers regarding Resident Evil Requiem, follow the advice of CSumner97, who said, “Might be time to mute everything regarding this game.”

Resident Evil Requiem will be released on 27 February 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.
