League of Legends will undergo a major overhaul in 2027. The MOBA, which celebrated its 16th anniversary this year, will be completely revamped by Riot Games.
This project, provisionally titled League Next, aims to improve the game’s visual experience. The characters, user interface, and arenas will benefit from modernized graphics in order to attract a new generation of players.
The American studio also intends to overhaul the entire technical foundation of League of Legends, which will allow for a faster deployment of future updates. Finally, Riot Games will likely carry out an internal reorganization of its teams.
Currently, League of Legends has more than 100 million active players each month.
