Steam Upcoming Release Is a Gorgeous Thrifting Sim, Cosy Hit Potential

I don’t know about you, but I adore thrifting; there’s something so magical about it. You just never know what treasure you might unearth, with most of those treasures costing you a fraction of their retail price.

It’s a hobby I embark on many weekends, but it may soon become a hobby that I allow to bleed into my week.

You see, the cosiest event in the gaming calendar, Wholesome Snack 2025 Showcase, just debuted a delightful new indie by the name of Thrifty Business.

If you too love thrifting, this one tasks you with running a shop, more so than browsing and purchasing wares.

Developed by Spellgarden Games, the game sees you set up and manage your own 90s inspired vintage thrift shop.

“Sort through boxes to find hidden treasures and arrange nostalgic displays (clothes, antiques, toys, and more),” a press release reads.

“Customise furniture, wallpaper, and more to make your store as welcoming and cosy as possible and transform it into a hub for the local community as you befriend the regulars and help with their requests.”

As you can likely tell, running the shop will include customising its layout and decor, displaying and selecting your stock, as well as assisting your customers.

For example, in the trailer, we see one customer in search of a record player, explaining that they have tons of old records but nothing to play them on.

If you please and satisfy your customers, I’m imagining they’ll be more likely to return.

Also judging by the trailer, it looks as if you’ll track incoming stock via a 90s mobile phone.

Some people will donate items for free, whilst otherts will charge a small fee; it’ll be up to you to determine whether you can make a profit based on the items included.

The game boasts a gorgeous pixel art style, similar to that which you’ll find in Stardew Valley, although here devs have opted for a brighter 90s hued neon colour palette.

Eventually, you’ll be able to extend your store, adding new floors and rooms, plus you can choose from a number of styles making it cosy, natural, or grungy – or perhaps a mixture of everything.

When Will Thrifty Business Arrive?

Unfortunately, developers haven’t yet announced a release date for Thrifty Business.

All we know is that it’s currently due to land on PC via Steam and you can go ahead and wishlist the game now.

I’m sure the devs will massively appreciate the wishlist, and you’ll be notified as soon as a release date is available.

Hopefully the game’s release goes well, as that’ll boost the chance of seeing it pop up on consoles.
