Perhaps my worst trait is that I’m a Metroidvania purist. It’s annoying, I know, but I’ve always been fascinated with the awkwardly-named subgenre’s little rules and structures. When I play something but Hollow Knight: Silksong, I can’t help but have some loud opinions on how well it adheres to the genre’s conventions or subverts them. So you probably won’t be surprised to hear that I had a lot to say about Metroid Prime 4: Beyondonce I was a few hours deep.
