The best games of December 2025

In the world of video games, December isn’t usually a big month for major releases, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to get your teeth into. Between new installments in certain franchises, indie productions, DLC, and ports to new platforms, let’s take a look at what December 2025 has in store for us.

The first game in our selection is Sleep Awake, a narrative and immersive first-person psychedelic horror experience. In it, you explore the realm between sleep and death. Continuing with the oppressive atmosphere, Ferocious is a survival game set on an unexplored island filled with ancient ruins and fearsome dinosaurs. Echoes of Elysium is also a survival game, available in co-op mode for up to 6 players, set in infinite procedural skies filled with floating islands.

Next up is the return of bounty hunter Samus Aran in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, coming to Nintendo Switch consoles. Two other titles are arriving on the same day: Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow and Octopath Traveler 0. The latter offers a fresh start in this brand new installment, which takes place chronologically before all the others in the series. In Skate Story, we are a demon of glass and suffering, imprisoned in hell. The Devil has given us a skateboard and offered us a very simple deal: skate to the moon and swallow it, in exchange for our freedom. Well, why not…

Exclusive to PS5, Code Violet was originally scheduled for release in November, but has been pushed back to December 12. It’s a horror action game in which you play Violet Sinclair, a young girl from the past who must unravel the mysteries of the bioengineering complex. Beware of the creatures that roam the island, as they will give you no respite. For something a little cuter, Everdream Village, the latest installment in the eponymous franchise, offers a cozy experience. Finally, Terminator 2D: NO FATE is coming to delight fans. In this episode, we relive cult moments from the franchise and forge new paths as Sarah, John, and the T-800 in a story combining iconic scenes and new stories from the Terminator universe.

Thank you! Itโ€™s true that quieter months often give players a chance to explore indie titles and hidden gems that might not get as much attention. December can be a great time to catch up on games we missed earlier in the year!

Absolutely! Those quieter months often allow smaller developers to showcase their creativity without competing against blockbuster titles. Itโ€™s exciting to discover unique gameplay experiences that might get overlooked otherwise!
