Skyrim fans can now enjoy a brand new free quest called War’s Folly, and it’s well worth your time for any lore aficionados.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim always proves to be the game that keeps on giving, with new fan-made mods and expansions coming out every single week giving you more content to sink your teeth into.
With news about The Elder Scrolls VI still being rather bare, we’ll have to make do with these mods for the time being until we’re ready for our next Elder Scrolls adventure.
War’s Folly is a brand new free quest for players to check out, and it looks like it’s worth an install for anyone who wants to add a little more depth to Skyrim’s Civil War subquestline.
This new free mod comes from Elder Scrolls modder nimwraith, who has already got a rather impressive portfolio of free quests to add to your game.
In it, you stumble across a zealous preacher called Sandor who seeks to convince Solitude’s residents that the Civil War is foolish and pointless. Hence, the “War’s Folly” in the title.
War’s Folly Adds Some Depth To The Civil War Questline
War’s Folly is described by nimwraith as “a very short quest mod featuring Sandor, a preacher who will join Solitude’s ranks after the player has been recruited into either side of the Civil War.
“Through your time in the city, you’ll be able to hear his opinions on the war through his many sermons, covering topics such as religion, the Thalmor and his own personal life. While not particularly long or groundbreaking, Sandor should offer a unique outlook on the war and create a feeling of involvement that I found missing from the vanilla game.”
Nimwraith adds that “While not particularly long, War’s Folly should contribute to Solitude’s bustling environment in an incredibly unique way. Taking inspiration from Heimskr’s ramblings, Sandor should feel like a complex character who doesn’t mindlessly stand by as Skyrim is consumed by war, something the base game is sorely missing.”
War’s Folly features the voice talents of MeekVoice, a voice actor who has provided voiceovers for various other Skyrim mods in the past. If you play around with a lot of different custom content, you may recognise his voice.
It’s also been built with roleplaying in mind, allowing your conversations with Sandor to shape your character and allow you to respond in a variety of different ways depending on how you want your character to react to these situations.
Skyrim: War’s Folly is available to download now from NexusMods.
