FX has announced a series adaptation of Ubisoftâs Far Cry video game series, and itâs set to be helmed by Noah Hawley and Rob Mac.
FX has given the nod for an adaptation of Ubisoftâs long-running FPS series, Far Cry, to hit televisions globally, and they already have the two faces of the series. First off, the adaptation will be a limited anthology series, and itâs coming from Noah Hawley (Fargo, Alien: Earth) and the Itâs Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Welcome to Wrexham creator Rob Mac. As of the Ubisoft announcement, Rob Mac is the only actor named to star in the series, and it will stream on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally.

Like other anthology series, each season will retain Far Cryâs signature storytelling format, and according to reports, each season will be set in a new setting, following a new cast of characters like the numbered entries of the video games. The series is known for its staggeringly oppressive and fanatical antagonists, and the latest entry, Far Cry 6, featured Giancarlo Esposito as the big bad AntĂłn, and it was released back in October 2021. It remains to be seen whether the series will recruit actors like Esposito for the TV series.

Noah Hawley says, âTo create a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and chaotic lens, is a dream come true. Iâm excited to partner with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, ambitious sensibility to the screen.â Rob Mac agrees, stating, âGetting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,â and adding, âUbisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.â
To coincide with the series announcement (and video game sales season), itâs worth mentioning Steam currently has huge discounts on each Far Cry series entry, with the sixth and latest entry being cut by 80 percent, letting players get in for just over $10.
Currently, FXâs Far Cry will be helmed by Rob Mac and Noah Hawley. Executive production will fall under the FX Productions, and credits include Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, and Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
