The sequel to a popular PlayStation 5 exclusive could be coming to other platforms in the future, according to a new report.
Stellar Blade became a hot subject on the internet back in 2024, with many critics feeling that Shift Up’s marketing focus was on the appeal of the main character, which overshadowed the rest of the game.
Nonetheless, it was probably one of the most-talked about games of that year, and ended up being rather well received. It also sold incredibly well, shifting three million copies overall a year after release, and one million PC copies three days after launch.
Shift Up has since announced that Stellar Blade 2 is in production, and it seems that the series may be going multiplatform.
Stellar Blade 2 is coming
According to a job board update on Shift Up’s website, Stellar Blade 2 will use Unreal Engine 5 and will be “Aiming for release on various platforms, including consoles and PC.”
“The next installment of ‘Stellar Blade’, currently under development at Shift Up, is a AAA multiplatform action game that expands the world of global hit ‘Stellar Blade’,” reads the listing.
“Aiming for release on various platforms, including consoles and PC, the game will inherit the stylish action and narrative-driven world of its predecessor, while delivering an evolved action gameplay experience.”
With the notion that Shift Up is targeting “consoles”, it could mean that Stellar Blade 2 will be coming to platforms other than PlayStation and PC. Whether this means Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2, or both, remains to be seen.

What’s also interesting is that one of the jobs posted on the board is a “PC battle designer”, which may indicate a simultaneous launch on both PC and consoles at the same time.
Stellar Blade was originally envisioned as a multiplatform game when it was first announced in 2019 under the name Project Eve. At the time, it was going to have a simultaneous release across PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
However, Sony later stepped in as the publisher after the game became Stellar Blade, and it became a PlayStation 5 exclusive. It was released in April 2024, with a PC version coming in June 2025.
Still, even with Sony as a publisher, that doesn’t mean the game can’t eventually come to new platforms. Helldivers 2 came to Xbox Series X/S in August earlier this year, and Death Stranding also released on Xbox a year ago. Anything’s possible, I guess.

It’s exciting to hear about the possibility of a PlayStation 5 exclusive making its way to other platforms! This could open up the game to a wider audience and bring even more fans into the fold. Looking forward to seeing how this develops!
