The next big update for Genshin Impact is right around the corner, and it promises to be a festive one this time around. Announced during the latest HoYoverse Special Program, Version 3 Luna (full title – Song of the Welkin Moon: Interlude — “A Nocturne of the Far North,”) will officially launch on December 3 across all platforms.
This update continues Genshin Impact’s story of Nod-Krai, as the region prepares for an annual festival called “Moon-Prayer Night.” This marks the Dameselett’s final night before their journey to the moon.
Here’s the official story description from MiHoyo, “After the defeat of Rächer of Solnari, Nasha Town comes back alive with the lively atmosphere of Moon-Prayer Night. Players are invited to enjoy the celebration, explore various game stalls, and record their memories in a souvenir stamp book, savoring precious moments before the Dameselette returns to the moon. During the celebration, unexpected guests show up — the Hexenzirkel has arrived.
Alice, Klee’s mother, and Nicole Reeyn, who previously guided the player in understanding Fontaine’s prophecy, finally reveal themselves with alarming news: Teyvat’s borders are becoming unstable, and strange “phantoms” are appearing across Nod-Krai. Players will join Albedo, Durin, and the Wanderer in uncovering the mystery behind them.”
This update will finally add Durin as the latest playable character, a 5-Star Pyro Sword wielder. Durin is also a sort of hybrid character who can switch between two different forms, one that focuses on offense and one on support for the team. Jahoda is the other new character joining the roster for this update, a 4-Star Anemo Bow wielder.
Maybe more interesting, however, is a new system that lets any characters connected to the Hexenzirkel benefit from story quests tied to their abilities, turning them into “Hexerei Characters.” This includes Venti, Klee, Albedo, Mona, Razor, Fischl, and Sucrose.
On top of all that, Luna 3 will include the event “Soulblazer’s Snowbound Journey,” taking players back to Dragonspine to take part in festive winter-themed minigames. You can see more details in the hour-long special program, or on the official website.
