After calling leaked images of Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil Requiem “fake news,” producer Masato Kumazawa has confirmed that “some characters” from previous titles will return.
Terms and conditions apply, of course. Well-Played asked in a new interview if Resident Evil Outbreak characters besides Alyssa (Grace’s mother) would appear, and he responded, “I would say that yes, there are going to be some characters from the past series to come in.”
However, and this is probably the important part, he asked not to “over-expect or hype it.” “We can’t promise you anything about that, but the only thing I can say is that there will be characters that have been involved in the Raccoon City incident involved in the game.”
Once again, this isn’t outright confirmation that Leon will be in the game, let alone a protagonist alongside Grace, as numerous rumors have stated. It does open the door for several other potential cameos, from Claire Redfield (Resident Evil 2) to Jill Valentine (Resident Evil 3). And, of course, Kumazawa didn’t deny that we’d see returning Outbreak characters, so they also have a chance.
Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27th, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Despite the sheer agony of waiting, a deep dive has been confirmed for early next year, with January looking the most likely.
Your guess is as good as ours on what Capcom could reveal, but maybe don’t hold out hope for a demo. On the bright side, Kumazawa recently confirmed that the massive stalker-like foe showcased till now is only a “small part” of the experience.
