Gearbox Software and 2K Games announced that Borderlands 4 players will receive free DLC today. Dubbed “Bounty Pack 1,” the new DLC features brand-new content to keep players occupied through the holiday season.
What is the free Borderlands 4 DLC?
Borderlands 4’s Bounty Pack 1 is a holiday-themed DLC that includes plenty of new content to keep players busy. Here is everything included in the pack, which PS5 players can download right now:
- New Missions and Boss
- New Legendary Gear
- Vault Card w/ 24 Cosmetics and 4 Pieces of Rerollable Gear
- 1 Vault Hunter Style
- 1 ECHO-4 Drone Skin
- 1 Vehicle
In order to claim Bounty Pack 1, PS5 players simply have to update Borderlands 4 to the latest version. Once updated, a gift-wrapped present will appear in any major hub, and will be marked on the map as a new mission. Once players interact with the present, it will begin a mission to assist Rush.
Initially, Gearbox and 2K Games had promised four Bounty Packs to be included with the Borderlands 4 Deluxe Edition, Super Deluxe Edition, or Bounty Pack Bundle. Now that the first is free, the companies announced that there will now be a fifth Bounty Pack coming in 2026, so they can still fulfill that promise.
Gearbox will continue to expand its endgame content next month. In a free update, the first Borderlands 4 Invincible Boss will be added in the form of the Bloomreaper. Besting the challenge will earn players new Legendary loot.
Gearbox also confirmed that it will now add Takedown content to Borderlands 4 in 2026 in a free update. As an additional endgame option, this new content is described as “an extremely challenging gauntlet through a new area, including hordes of enemies and new boss encounters.” It will be free for all players in future updates.
