PS5 Players Surprised With Free Demo for Acclaimed Action Game

Perennial Order free PS5 game demo

The PS Store has stealth-dropped a free PS5 demo for an acclaimed 2024 atmospheric action game that players should check out. Inspired by Hollow Knight and Shadow of the Colossus, Perennial Order is a fantastic “2D plant horror boss rush game” that’s set in the Dark Ages.

Great PS5 game Perennial Order gets free demo, no PS Plus required

Perennial Order supports single-player and local + online co-op, but a PS Plus subscription is not required to access the demo. All PS5 players can access it from the PS Store’s Demo section and taste a slice of the action.

The demo’s PS Store page doesn’t mention if progress carries over to the full game or not, so it’s best to assume that it doesn’t.

“Explore a mysterious land alone or with a friend in 2-player local or online co-op,” reads an official overview. “Uncover a story through unusual NPCs and cut down terrifying eldritch bosses, all in a painterly 2D style.”

Developer Gardenfiend Games describes Perennial Order as “a love letter to games such as Hollow Knight, Titan Souls, Dark Souls, and Shadow of the Colossus.”

The game holds a rating of 4.54/5 stars on the PS Store and “Very Positive” on Steam.
