A new Stardew Valley expansion has added a ton of new content, and it might just be my reason to re-install the game even after hundreds of hours.
Over the years, Stardew Valley has been a rather massive game for many of us. It’s a little more structured than Animal Crossing, but isn’t quite as overwhelming as something like Factorio. Instead, it hits that sweet spot somewhere in the middle.
It’s also proving to be quite the forever game, with regular updates being released every couple of years. Although the remarkably deep Update 1.6 was thought to be the last major update for Stardew Valley, ConcernedApe has now confirmed 1.7 is in the works.
Still, even with all this official free content coming to the game from the developer, modders and the community have also proven to be the gift that keeps on giving, with new content coming out each week.
That’s certainly the case for this new mod, titled Pelican Town Event Expansion, which adds loads of new events to Stardew Valley.

What is Stardew Valley: Pelican Town Event Expansion?
The mod focuses on the original characters of Pelican Town, expanding their characterisation with new events for them to appear in.
Mod creator L0veraven calls the mod “just an excuse for me to treat the game like a dollhouse,” and adds that they enjoy making the stories for each of the characters.
They also state that the mod should be lore-friendly, and is compatible with all existing Stardew Valley canon. However, as this is an unofficial mod, there may be some new aspects added that aren’t necessarily canon.
L0veraven also takes care to include some content warnings for the events, as some of them contain references to alcoholism and grief. So, if you’re affected by either of these sensitive topics, it might be a good idea to skip the mod, or at least be aware of the subject matter before you play.

Another big expansion is East Scarp, which adds an entire new region to the game with loads of new characters, events, locations, and items. There are even new animals and crops to farm, making it a rather hefty expansion for avid Stardew Valley players.
