The Nier director has seen his latest projects canceled

During G-CON 2025 in South Korea, the director of Nier, Yoko Taro, was on hand to answer a few questions. He was accompanied by Hideki Kamiya, the founder of Clovers, who is currently working on Okami 2.

During the gathering, the two creators discussed their projects in development. For his part, Taro made a rather surprising revelation. It seems all the games he wanted to make have been canceled.

“People often say things like, ‘Why don’t you make a sequel to NieR?’ or ‘Yoko isn’t working,’ but lately, many projects have been interrupted along the way.

So I worked, but my projects were never released. Since I was paid, it’s not a personal problem, but since nothing was produced, it might seem like I didn’t work.

I don’t have any negative feelings about it, because I think it’s better to release nothing at all than to release something strange or bad.”
