PS5 players are urging fellow PS Plus subscribers to try a “criminally underrated” upcoming Extra catalog game, and we agree. Pacific Drive received positive reviews upon launch, but many (including us) feel its Metacritic score of 77/100 doesn’t do the game justice.
Launched as a PS5 console exclusive, upcoming PS Plus game Pacific Drive continues to surprise players
Developed by Ironwood Studios, Pacific Drive is a survival game that launched as a PS5 console exclusive in 2024. The game has received robust post-launch support in terms of content updates and DLC, and tells a refreshingly unique story.
Many of Pacific Drive’s complaints around launch were centered on gameplay mechanics, which have since been greatly improved.
“If you’re put off by horror games still give this a shot. It’s eerie, but essentially it’s you vs. nature, and the nature is a little supernatural,” wrote one player. “It has fantastic art, fantastic atmosphere, great music, a compelling story, fun collectibles, fun customization, and most importantly, in terms of approachability, loads and loads of difficulty options,” another fan added.
For those not familiar with it, Pacific Drive is a driving survival game, where all players have is their car. “It’s you and your station wagon against an unforgiving, vicious world,” reads an official overview. “It’ll take more than a fresh set of tires to keep you alive, on and off the road.”
We highly recommend Pacific Drive and hope more players give it a chance next week on Tuesday, November 18, when PS Plus Extra and Premium November 2025 games go live.
