It has been some time since Ubisoft last mentioned the Far Cry license publicly. However, some rumors suggest that there is a lot going on with this franchise.
Initially developed under the name Talisker, Far Cry 7 was then split into two separate projects. On one side, we have the main game, Blackbird, and on the other, a multiplayer extraction title called Maverick.
Recently, fans reportedly managed to get their hands on several images from the game thanks to files from the now-defunct XDefiant. Insider Gaming specifies that the visuals in question are from the team elimination mode of Talisker. The screenshots could therefore date back to the early stages of development. One of them shows the Beckett family, who will need to be rescued by the player.
It is also very important to note that the multiplayer game Maverick may have been canceled by Ubisoft. According to information from Insider Gaming, the developers have been unable to find a satisfactory gameplay loop, so we can’t rule out it being cancelled.
