Assassin’s Creed Hexe Could Link Back To Ezio, Hype is Real

An Assassin’s Creed rumour might suggest that Ezio Auditore da Firenze could be linked to the upcoming Hexe.

Other than offering some fantastic games throughout the popular Ubisoft series, one of the reasons why fans adore the Assassin’s Creed franchise so much is its vibrant cast of colourful characters.

Names like Edward Kenway, Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad, Kassandra, Jacob and Evie Frye, Bayek and Aya, and many more. However, perhaps the most prominent name from the entire Assassin’s Creed series is the aforementioned, and endlessly charismatic, Ezio Auditore da Firenze. When it comes to mainline games (not including remasters or spin-offs), we’ve not seen our beloved Ezio in a while, with his last major outing being in 2011’s Assassin’s Creed Revelations.

We were first introduced to Ezio in 2009’s Assassin’s Creed II, then its sequel, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and then Assassin’s Creed Revelations. No character has starred in more mainline games than our lovable cocky Italian, which is why many consider him to be one of the best video game characters ever.

Fans would no doubt love to see him return in a brand new game, heck, I think even a remake will do, if it means we’ll get to play as Ezio once more. That being said, if rumours are true, Ezio could be heavily linked to the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Hexe, but not in the way most of us might assume.

Will Ezio have a role in Assassin’s Creed Hexe?

“If Claudia Auditore really has some connection to the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Hexe, that would be very interesting to see. I heard that new details about Hexe are coming soon, let’s see what they’ll be,” claimed Twitter user and big AC fan, TheRealZephryss.

“This time, we might get more information about the main protagonist. Her initial name was Elsa, but it might have been changed to something else,” they teased further.

Of course, at the time of writing, Claudia Auditore can be considered a baseless rumour until we learn new official details on Assassin’s Creed Hexe. Yet, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that there could be some truth behind those rumours.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe will be inspired by the 16th-century Witch Trials, a lot of which took place in Germany. The culprits responsible for the Witch Trials were the Holy Roman Empire, so there’s an Italian connection right off the bat.

Furthermore, the 16th-century Witch Trials in Europe occurred between 1560 and 1630. We last saw Claudia in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, which had taken place between 1499 to 1507. While Claudia was not seen in Assassin’s Creed Revelations, she is thought to have been alive during its timeline from 1511 to 1512.

So, given the fact that Assassin’s Creed Hexe is set in Europe, and is likely to be set from 1560, there is a chance that Claudia may have been alive (albeit very old at that point) during its opening years. Perhaps we could get moments in the game just before the events of the Witch Trials, with Claudia having some kind of impact.

That is all speculative on my part. But until Ubisoft releases new details on Assassin’s Creed Hexe, all we can do right now is speculate. Assassin’s Creed Hexe is expected to launch sometime between 2026 and 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
