Sony’s New Horizon Game Announcement Has Upset Fans

New Horizon Steel Frontiers game

Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially announced its long-rumored new Horizon game, and fans aren’t happy, to say the least. Horizon Steel Frontiers is the previously-leaked MMORPG, but it’s not for PlayStation platforms. It’ll be available only on PC and mobile.

Horizon Steel Frontiers is a new game exclusive to non-Sony platforms

Horizon Steel Frontiers is being developed in collaboration with Guerrilla Games. This alongside its availability on PC has left PlayStation fans wondering why PS5 has been left out.

Over on X, Guerrilla’s tweet announcing Horizon Steel Frontiers has been met with sharp criticism. Comments under the official trailer on YouTube and fan response on gaming forums aren’t exactly positive either.

Horizon Steel Frontiers will be cross-platform. There’s currently no indication that it’ll be released on PS5 later down the line.

“In Horizon Steel Frontiers, every player is a hero,” said Executive Producer Sung-Gu Lee. “We’ve put great care into customization, allowing you to fully express your individuality, even down to the smallest details. During character creation, we’ve incorporated the tribes from the original Horizon world.”

Horizon Steel Frontiers combat will feature familiar hunting action and large-scale raids. NCSoft has promised “an awe-inspiring landscape and a vast open world.”

A release date or window has not been announced.
