Hogwarts Legacy Fan Expansion Adds A Fully Fledged House Point System

Hogwarts Legacy fans can download a free mod that adds a fully-fledged House Point system to the game. It couldn’t have come sooner, honestly.

Developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games, when Hogwarts Legacy arrived in early 2023, it quickly became the Harry Potter game that fans had waited years for. Sure, we had some decent Harry Potter games along the way, but arguably, nothing on the scale of the action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy. Yet, despite being largely well-received and the best-selling game of 2023, it never got nominations at some major award ceremonies.

“Embark on a journey through familiar and new locations as you explore and discover magical beasts, customise your character and craft potions, master spell casting, upgrade talents and become the wizard you want to be,” reads the synopsis of the game.

“Experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. Make allies, battle Dark wizards, and ultimately decide the fate of the wizarding world. Your legacy is what you make of it. Live the Unwritten.”

Hogwarts Legacy received official mod support in 2025

As with many games on PC, they are supported by the ever-vibrant modding community. Whether it’s new missions, restoring cut content, adding new characters, gear or bug fixes, the modding community pretty much has you covered.

In terms of being supported by the modding community, Hogwarts Legacy was already no exception.

However, in January 2025, developers Avalanche Software announced official mod support, providing its community with a wealth of new tools and software to create even better content.

Nearly a year has passed since that announcement, and there’s no question, the Hogwarts Legacy modding community is taking full advantage of the arsenal of tools provided.

One such mod, which has taken advantage of the official support, is called ‘House Point System’, created by Damien92, and it’s free to download now via CurseForge.com.

The ‘House Point System’ does pretty much what it says on the tin, allowing players to earn points that provide in-game competition between the four houses of the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, namely, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.

Points are earned (or deducted) depending on the moral choices that you make in the game, as well as certain events and timed tasks, making you at least think twice before you make any decision.

It’s a shame that this feature wasn’t included in the game in an official capacity. Fingers crossed it will be included in the yet-to-be-announced sequel, because fans have wanted this feature for a long time.

Sadly, as is the case with most mods, this is a PC exclusive. For the rest of us, we can enjoy Hogwarts Legacy as intended on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

Absolutely, it really enhances the experience of immersing yourself in the Hogwarts environment! It’s great to see fans taking the initiative to add features that reflect the spirit of the books and movies. I wonder how this will affect gameplay dynamics and player interactions as well!
