Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake Gets March 12, 2026 Release Date in Latest Trailer

Koei Tecmo took the spotlight during Sony’s recent State of Play showcase to reveal that the remake of seminal horror title Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly is coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 on March 12, 2026. As the trailer shows off, Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake will modernised the gameplay of the horror classic that was originally released all PS2 all the way back in 2003. The remake was first announced back in September, and as the new trailer also confirms, will focus around the story of twin sisters Mio and Mayu Amakura as they visit a favourite playing spot of theirs in the forest near Minakami. On finding an abandoned village, the two also discover that the place is haunted by hostile ghosts, with the mysterious Camera Obscura being their only hope of survival.

Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake will feature modernised gameplay along with updated visuals and audio. It will also feature a new Holding Hands With Mayu feature that allows players to experience what has been described as β€œthe deep bond between the sisters”.
