The Legend of Zelda and Assassin’s Creed fans will want to claim this free Ubisoft game right now.
You can claim one of 2020’s most underrated games (that also had a very weird start to life) for free in celebration of Ubisoft Connect, which launched in that same year.
As brought to our attention by ‘Free Steam Games’, the game in question is Immortals Fenyx Rising, and before its launch, it was called Gods and Monsters, before the Monster Beverage Corporation, the owners of the Monster energy drink, claimed to have the rights to the word “monster”.
Ubisoft then changed the name to Immortals Fenyx Rising, which was disappointing. I’m no expert on marketing (whatsoever), but I’d be surprised if no company was ever able to use the word “monster”, other than that energy drink company. Plus, I think Gods and Monsters is a much better title, but I digress.
Immortals Fenyx Rising can draw some comparisons to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, with it being set in ancient Greece (kind of), and is inspired by Greek mythology. Albeit it’s a more family-friendly game, and its open world gives The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild vibes.

“You are the gods’ last hope,” opens the synopsis of the game in question. “Play as Fenyx on a quest to save the Greek gods from a dark curse.”
“Take on mythological beasts, master the legendary powers of the gods, and defeat Typhon, the deadliest Titan in Greek mythology, in an epic fight for the ages.”
On the aggregate website Metacritic, Immortals Fenyx Rising scored a respectable 81 from critics and 7.1 from users. Which isn’t too shabby.
Claim Immortals Fenyx Rising this week
“Five years ago, Ubisoft Connect was launched as a unified ecosystem bringing Ubisoft players together across all platforms,” said the Assassin’s Creed publisher in a blog post.
“Since then, Ubisoft Connect has become the home for your Ubisoft games, your friends, and your gaming journey.
“Every month, millions of players around the world log in to play, connect, and share their experiences.”
Not to be confused with Ubisoft Plus, Ubisoft Connect is essentially a hub that grants easy access to its library of games, tracks stats and connects with friends. It also acts as a launcher on PC.
“To celebrate Ubisoft Connect’s fifth anniversary and to thank you for being part of this adventure, we’re offering Immortals Fenyx Rising for free on PC! Head to the Ubisoft Store or Ubisoft Connect PC client to claim your copy, starting November 13.”
There seems to be no obvious indication for how long we have to claim Immortals Fenyx Rising, but once it’s added to your Ubisoft Connect library, it’s yours to keep.
Sadly, this offer is exclusive to PC, but you might be pleased to know that Immortals Fenyx Rising is included in PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass, as part of the Ubisoft Classics library.
Immortals Fenyx Rising is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
