If you want to pick up a new free game this week, this new Steam freebie might be a good one to see you through to the weekend.
We often cover free games that are worth your time, and 12 is Better Than 6 is a good one to consider if you’re after a bit of action.
It’s a top-down shooter set in the wild west where you have to drop enemies one revolver cartridge at a time. The game features a mix of action and stealth, meaning you can tackle the game in whatever playstyle you wish.
In case you fancied picking it up, 12 Is Better Than 6 is now available to keep on Steam if you claim it in time. If you redeem the game by 13 November at 6pm, you’ll be able to add it to your Steam library where it shall remain until the end of time.

What is 12 Is Better Than 6?
It’s got quite an interesting control scheme, to say the least. As your character has access to old west-style revolvers, you need to use one trigger on your controller to cock the gun, then use another trigger to shoot.
These all use authentic weapons such as winchesters, double-barreled guns, revolvers, and gatling guns, so there’s quite a lot of chaos here to use at your disposal.
What’s most noticeable about 12 Is Better Than 6 is the unique art style, where all the sprites have been drawn by hand on pen and paper, and then scanned in to create the various game assets.
A lot of games have been drawn like this, but 12 Is Better Than 6 actually emphasises the hand-drawn art style by making it a part of the overall aesthetic.
Think of it as like a mix of Hotline Miami and Heat Signature, where you’re presented with this top-down view and have to dispatch enemies in whatever way you see fit.
If you want to grab the full experience, you can get the DLC, 12 Is Better Than 6: The Apostles, for 80% off. This expansion adds three new characters to play as, and also new mechanics such as horse chases and train robberies. There are also two new types of enemies.
Overall, it’s a good pick for anyone who enjoys top-down shooters and wants to play one with a unique art style. Although 12 Is Better Than 6 is now almost ten years old, we imagine there are quite a lot of people who haven’t yet had the chance to play it yet.
Since releasing 12 Is Better Than 6, the game’s developer Ink Stains Games released Stoneshard, a hardcore turn-based RPG where you play as a medieval mercenary.
