Everstone Studio’s Where Winds Meet launches worldwide on November 14th, bringing its successful fusion of Wuxia and open-world action RPG gameplay to the West at last. Preloads begin on November 12th at 2 PM PT for free, according to a new PlayStation Blog article, but there’s a lot more to learn before diving into the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms era.
First up are the weapons. You know about the sword, spear and Mo blade, but there are more flamboyant choices available, like the umbrella, fan and rope dart. There are 12 Martial Arts sets and 23 mystical techniques, with award-winning action choreographer Stephen Tung Wai in charge of the animation.
Whatever the weapon and discipline, you’ll need to master them to progress to locations like Kaifeng. Described as “the beating heart of civilization,” it features over 10,000 NPCs and more than 1,200 artifacts for collection. The sheer range of activities is also incredible, from dueling and trading to exploring the mysterious Ghostly Market.
Of course, you’ll also need to delve into the “Gold-Making Vessel,” a treasure that conceals a “darker purpose.” It isn’t long before players are drawn into conflict and dealing with powers beyond their control. Everstone also unveiled the mysterious figure stalking the hero all the while – Nan Zhu, a cunning individual with “murderous intent.”
Where Winds Meet will be available for PS5 and PC at launch, recently crossing seven million pre-registrations. Head here for all the latest details and why it might pleasantly surprise you.
