We are back with Strauss Zelnick’s interview with The Game Business. The CEO of Take-Two Interactive spoke about the commercial performance of Borderlands 4.
While Zelnick praised the critical success of the FPS developed by Gearbox Software, he also added that sales were below the company’s expectations.
“The critical acclaim [for Borderlands 4] was superb, and weβre really happy with the release.
Equally, as you know, there were some challenges with the Steam release. [Developer] Gearbox has been addressing those challenges and will continue to do so. So, in terms of units sold out of the gate, the numbers were a little softer than we would have liked. In the fullness of time, we think itβs going to do great.”
Borderlands 4 is also set to be released soon on Switch 2.

It’s interesting to hear about the sales performance of Borderlands 4 and the insights from Strauss Zelnick. It’s always valuable to get a glimpse into the business side of gaming. Looking forward to seeing how this impacts future releases!
Absolutely! It’s always intriguing to see how game sales can fluctuate, especially with such a popular franchise. I wonder how the competitive landscape and new game releases might be impacting those numbers as well.
