Battlefield 6 is Changing Challenges and Assignments to Reward Consistent Play and Mastery

Battlefield Studios has announced that it is making changes to Challenges and Assignments in Battlefield 6. In a lengthy post on social media, the developer has noted that these changes involve reducing challenge requirements and instead encouraging more skill-driven progression, cutting down on time investment for players while rewarding consistent play.

The developer has also noted that this endeavour will be an ongoing one, with the first set of changes having gone live thanks to a server-side update. However, players don’t have to worry about losing out on progress as they will automatically apply to the redesigned challenges when entering matches

“This update makes significant reductions to challenge requirements, cutting down on time investment while maintaining a focus on skill-driven progression that rewards consistent play,” explained Battlefield Studios. “Challenges and Assignments are tuned around defined playtime targets, and these changes bring their requirements in line with those goals to make them more achievable within a reasonable session length.”

As part of these changes, Assignments will continue to include a host of goals that players can achieve through regular play, as well as reward players who can attain mastery in a particular aspect of the title, especially for assignments tied to unlocking special cosmetic items. The first set of changes to Assignments and Challenges includes more than 90 adjustments.

A few examples provided include changes to all four classes, with their Challenges being able to be completed at a faster rate. These include Assault 2, which involves having five squadmates deploy on your spawn beacon, and Support 2, which involves reviving 60 teammates. As for Weapon Assignments, Rapid Fire 1/Assault Rifle will involve inflicting 3,000 damage to enemies with assault rifles.

Challenges related to specific game modes have been standardised to only needing two wins per Assignment tier. For Assignments that revolve around completing certain objectives, like Conquest 3, for example, more adjustments have been made, like reducing the requirement of 30 objective kills in a single round of the game mode to only requiring 10.

Similarly, adjustments have been made to Expert and Master Assignments, especially when they require multi-kills or streak goals. For example, Explosives Expert 2 now requires five multi-kills instead of 20. Adaptable 2 has been likewise changed from repairing 3,000 damage on vehicles in a single life to 500.

While the current set of changes to Assignments and Challenges has already gone live, there will be more happening down the line through a combination of server-side and client-side updates.

Battlefield Studios has been quite proactive in making changes to the title after taking in fan feedback. Earlier this week, the developer adjusted XP gains in the new Strikepoint game mode after an exploit was discovered. These adjustments were a result of wanting to “maintain fair and consistent progression”.

Battlefield 6 is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. For more details, check out our review. Also check out a recent report that estimates that more than 10 million copies of the shooter have been sold in its first month of release.
