A dataminer has discovered a never-before-seen icon on PS5 that suggests Sony is planning a much-welcome, pro-consumer PS Store update. The icon in question was recently added to the backend and indicates that Sony will offer cross-buy for its multiplatform games.
Unannounced PS Store update will offer cross-buy, but thereβs no platform confirmation yet
X user yAmethxst tweeted their findings, uncovering several new icons on PS5 that will presumably be added to the PS Store soon. We are certain that this cross-buy icon has nothing to do with PS4/PS5 cross-buy since the last-gen console is on its way out and is barely receiving new games.
That leaves us with two options: PS5/PC cross-buy or, as some have speculated, cross-buy between PS5 and an upcoming device.
Most folks are leaning towards PS5 and PC cross-buy since PS6 is still a few years away, and we donβt think the rumored PlayStation handheld will be out anytime soon, either.
For those wondering, the leaf symbol now appears next to games with the new Power Saver feature, so itβs already live on the PS Store.
Some folks think the PS5/PC symbol is new, but a variant of this icon is already in use on PlayStation.com for games that are available on PS5 and PC, so we donβt think thereβs anything more to this one.
